Windows 7 beta is only a few hours old and already the first windows 7 beta has been leaked. Windows 7 beta 1 has popped up on rapidshare, torrent sites and other file sharing services. Microsoft really need to tighten things up one would feel. I don’t believe in pirating software so I’m not going to provide you with windows 7 download links but that said you don’t need to look to far.
Please if you do download these “Windows 7 beta” versions please check carefully as many people are reporting spyware and viruses included in them from various releases (not from MS, but rather nasty people / hackers) looking to take advantage of your curiosity.
Anyway here is a screenshot from Microsoft Windows 7 beta 1: (Note this is considered Windows 7 build 7000)

Windows Xp thrown another lifeline

Windows xp has been thrown another lifeline in the never ending saga of trying to phase out the old operating system, Microsoft are still pushing for Windows xp to come of the shelf but its a hard sell when there are still so many users and companies who rely on a solid OS and we know that Windows vista is not all that great, So again Microsoft has been forced to cave in to there so called “deadlines” anyway I personally think that once Windows 7 is ready thats when Windows XP should come to an end. There are just too many people who still love Windows XP and if they stop selling Windows XP im sure you will see an increase in pirated versions.
“Microsoft has issued yet again another reprieve for Windows XP. Instead of ending availability of Windows XP on January 31st as originally planned, the company has bowed to pressure, now making May 30th 2009 the last date the OEM partners will be able to purchase Windows XP.”
Thanks to our coleges at Fudzilla for this, you can read their full article here.

Windows 7 Build 7004 has just been released to beta testers, I must say Microsoft Windows 7 is looking cleaner & cleaner every time we see a new windows 7 build. Below is a screen shot of Windows 7 Build 7004:

Scott Wylie recently wrote on his MSDN blog about his thoughts on what is still considered Windows 7 “Pre-Beta” you can read his thoughts here on his blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/scottwylie/
Not a huge update or much new information, but what is interesting is the Windows 7 Live Mesh. There was talk about scrapping this feature a while ago but from all current reports Live Mesh is holding its own and building up a lot of interest.

I wont go on about it, but its a really interesting read and personally i think Microsoft wanting to work closer with end users will see Windows 7 be a very solid product.

Windows 7 Circle Dock
This is not by any means an official Microsoft Windows 7 release, but comes in the form of Open Source.
- Drag and Drop shortcuts, files & folder to add it to the taskbar
- You can rotate the dock items with wheel or arrow keys
- Change the image show for the icon and change the skins
- Dock appears on the mouse location by pressing F1 key
- Reorder the dock items on the dock bar by drag and drop
- It can run from USB drives
- It offers a cool icon replacement mode
- Works in all Windows Vista and Windows XP
- Also work with multiple monitors
- Launch programs from a circular dock
- You can add more and any icon of your choice
- Includes support for French, English, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Dutch, Hungarian, Indonesian, Serbian, Croatian, Chinese, Spanish, German, and Danish
This is quite a useful add on for your current Windows desktop, Windows 7 will of an advanced version of this, but for now you will have to use the open source version. Anyhow the Windows 7 Circle Dock download link is below:
Again this is going to be a strong feature of Windows 7 and its a good idea to download and install so you can see just how powerful Windows 7 will be.

Windows 7’s new font manager overview
December 18, 2008 by Windows7info
Windows 7 will introduce a new / upgraded font manager. As a part time web designer i have always been frustrated by the lack of ability to manage windows fonts without physically remove the Windows fonts and storing them in a temp directory, I’m sure like me you have collected some great fonts over the years and when it comes time to select one you need to choose from a list that’s 1000+ strong not only does this slow over the years it is also hard to remember all your favourite ones.
Windows 7 will adress these issues by including a Windows 7 Font Manager. The new Windows 7 Font manager will include the ability to group, install, uninstall, preview and also the abilty to hide fonts.
While this is only a small update its something many people have relied on 3rd party software for, Again Windows 7 is starting to shape up quite nicly already and lots of small updates like this one will ensure Microsoft remain the premium OS.
Windows 7 display drivers already..

This is great news, Microsoft has set out sample display drivers to all the main video card manafactures. This is basicly giving all the main players plenty of time to get this right, Hardware vendors have a good 9 months to fine tune Windows 7 graphics drivers.
As you would be aware Windows Vista when released had all kinds of driver / support issues and these problems continued on for quite a long time, even to this day some hardware is still causing headaches. This is a smart move by Microsoft and should build some confidence amongst MS operating systems users & fans.
We have been told that Microsoft will also work closer to other hardware vendors this time around to ensure all current hardware & upcoming hardware is windows 7 compatible. Windows 7 should really be a huge improvement over windows vista.
