Thumbs up Windows 7 compatible games list

Nice Website & forums guys !!

As the title suggest i am compiling a list of games that are currently working fine under windows 7, these may change by the final release of windows 7, however 99% of them should still work under Microsoft Windows 7 once officially released.

OK in no particular order: (Tested BY ME)

-Championship Manager 08
- Medieval Total War 2
- Crysis
- Left 4 Dead
- X-Blades
- Dead Space
- King's Bounty The Legend
- The Witcher Enhanced Edition
- Tomb Raider Underworld
- CS: Source
- GTA IV
- COD 4
- COD 5
- Prince of Persia
- Fallout 3
- Raindbow Six Vegas 2
- James Bond 007 Quantum of Solace
- F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
- Sins of a Solar Empire
- Need for Speed Undercover
- Mirror's Edge
- Starcraft
- Diablo II
- Assasin's creed
- Spore
- Burnout paradise
- Tom Clancy H.A.W.X
- World of Goo
- World In Conflict
- Star Wars: Empire at War
- Fallout 3
- Red alert 3
- Sacred 2
- Battlefield 2
- Chaos league
- Fifa 09
- Fifa 08

All these games work 100% fine under the latest build of Microsoft Windows 7, and you should be able to bet your bottom dollar that come the final release from Microsoft that Windows 7 will be able to run all your favorite games without a hitch, and current benchmarking results are providing some great performance increases. Some games are showing as much as 25% increase in performance.

Anyway please contribute to this list if you install a game not mentioned above so that others understand that windows 7 is not a joke.

I will update this thread regularly.

Battlefield 2 works but it might as well not be included because Punkbuster will kick you after about a minute. I spent a day trying to work around this but in the end the problem is that Punkbuster doesn't support Windows 7 until it is officially released so its a no go.

Can we also have a confirmed as NOT working list please? I have one other to add currently Supreme Commander doesn't work because of patching issues.

Additional notes, all testing done on Win7 x64 Build 7000:

-Team Fortress 2 appears to work flawlessly from my testing
-HAWX (only tried the demo) works fine so long as you don't have both an ATi and nVidia card in the system at the same time (in which case DX9 mode works fine, but DX10 gets horribly confused about which display is which)
-Unreal Tournament (original) seems to work fine (ATi users may find some OpenGL issues with certain driver revisions, not sure if the latest 9.3's fix this but if you plug the 8.12's OpenGL dll into your system folder it works fine in that mode too)
-Unreal Tournament 3 works great, and even works with a primary ATi graphics card and an nVidia secondary performing physx (and is actually using it, as seen by ingame framerates on the PhysX maps)

-Call of Duty 4: At least in 64-bit, this is NOT working correctly as Punkbuster largely does not work with Win7. Workarounds may be possible on 32-bit (and apparently CoD5's version of Punkbuster, which is different, can be made to work so it's only CoD4 with issues) but 64-bit users are stuck playing non-punkbuster servers. The game itself otherwise works perfectly.

Age or Empires 3 works as well as dark sector and silent hill homecoming. I can't seem to get Fear 2 working, the install process doesn't run and i got frustrated that i left it alone for quite some time.

GTA works well in windows 7. I had tried playing most games on windows 7 except some vintage 2 D games most of the games are compatible with windows 7. I guess windows 7 is deigned for playing higher up games especially the new generation ones.

Thanks for the great list and details, guys.

Obviously, the performance of a new OS for gaming is very important. I wonder how high up on the list that is compared to other applications like maybe video and audio editing?

I read that the production of video games was bigger business than the movie industry. Definitely game companies hire actors for voice as well as video elements, and hire composers to score the games, sometimes with full orchestras.

Yes it is. The gaming industry is better and the movie industry is almost on par with it. Gaming is really a big business for companies like EA.
