As strange as this sounds i can confirm myself that this is actually happening, a few weeks ago we received some user comments saying that Microsoft Windows 7 was killing some usb devices, these comments continued to flood in.
Yesterday i was using Windows 7 Pre Beta and i decided to send some music to my usb / mp3 device (2 weeks old) and now its stopped working. Users are reporting that somehow or other that Windows 7 is sending extra volts this is not possible, the problem is caused by data corruption and incorrect memory allocation. Don’T be alarmed this is just a warning in case you are testing Windows 7. Again we must remember that Windows 7 is still considered a “Pre Beta” and as we all know beta versions and all about ironing out the bugs.
Windows 7 has only produced a very small amount of errors to date and is looking very promising so don’t let this but you off, just make sure if your testing windows 7 that you don’t use usb devices for a while until this problem is corrected. Windows 7 builds 6936, 7000, 7004 are suspected to be the only Microsoft Windows 7 builds that are affected.
