Windows 7 Benchmark Results

The well known website ZDNET got a sneak preview of the latest Microsoft Windows 7 build, not the Beta or an early build, Its believed this was a little cherry picked but never the less numbers don’t lie.

You can check out the full article here: ZDNET. The testing / benchmarking was only conducted with a few minor tests, but more importantly the boot time test was conducted and Windows 7 comes out the winner when put up against Windows xp Sp3 & also Windows Vista Sp1. Windows 7 is the first operating system that is able to go from power up to fully loaded & usable in less than 20 seconds.

The under 20 seconds can be done with a few hacks / mods on current versions of windows or even with special hardware “Ram-Drives” or “SCSI Drives” & even with some raid setups, But the fact remains this is out of the box and should be able to keep these times across most average computer systems. As Microsoft mentioned earlier this year the prefetch technology has been relaxed and instead of pre loading things that you wont even use, Windows 7 will now only prefetch the nessersery files / apps.

For many years now people have complained about all the rubbish that needlessly gets loaded as your standard Windows  system boots up, Finally Microsoft have done something about that. For example if you load up firefox & internet explorer at the same time after a fresh boot up, Internet explorer will load first as Microsoft gives its own products priority picks and pre loads them during boot up so that the don’t look so sluggish.

Anyhow please check out the link provided above to see the other small Windows 7 benchmarking tests that were conducted.
